The main body of the machine is made from a heavy-duty ABS moulding and a 120W motor powers both the 200mm diameter, 40mm wide Supergrind stone and the leather honing wheel. The machine is supplied with a comprehensive package of accessories, included is the SVH60 chisel and plane iron jig, WM200 angle guide, PA70 tube of honing paste, XB100 horizontal mounting base for grinding away from the edge and the Tormek Handbook detailing the huge potential of the Tormek system. Special mention must be made of the Universal Tool Support which has a threaded leg and a knurled wheel, allowing for very fine tuning of the angle at which the tool is presented to the wheel. A truly universal and effective sharpening system for all users of edge tools.
TORMEK 1206 Whetstone Grinder

The TORMEK way is a dramatic improvement in edge tool sharpening. Anybody can now sharpen and hone an edge with an accuracy previously not possible – much more easily and faster. You can shape the tool exactly to your needs. Even such complicated shapes as fingernail turning gouges, spoon carving gouges and oval skew chisels with a radiused edge are easily sharpened. And you can exactly replicate a previous sharpening in less than a minute.

The water cooled slow turning grindstone is in perfect harmony with the physical laws governing the steel tool ensuring that the edge does not overheat and lose its hardness.

You finish the sharpening process on the leather honing wheel, which lets you polish the edge to a razor sharpness with no need for bench stones.

The TORMEK method is safe. At the low speed you can fully control the grinding operation. Since no sparks are produced, there is no risk to your eyes and you can safely use the machine in areas of high fire risk.

The TORMEK 1206 is a great machine, particularly if you require the lighter weight and its compact size compared to the TORMEK 2006. And the TORMEK 1206 is a little more economical to purchase. But if you can stretch to it, we highly recommend the TORMEK 2006 machine for nearly all sharpening applications.
